GENERATIONS TO GENERALIZATIONS: Asian American Perspectives

SUNDAY APRIL 18, 4:30-6pm   Register HERE

GENERATIONS to GENERALIZATIONS, a discussion of the Asian American experience in Central Texas from one generation to the next. By no means comprehensive, this discourse will offer some perspectives and history, from those often generalized by surviving, striving, and the illusion of thriving in America. With the recent acts of hate toward our Asian American populations across the country, the April 18th Voices at the Table Community Forum will focus on listening to the younger Asian American voices in our community, as well as an elder citizen’s personal story of Japanese internment in our state. Beloved member of the Wimberley community, Mary Gail Nagai Jacobson shares her family history in the state from her perspective as a third generation Japanese American or Sansei. Come to listen and learn about our region’s relationship to a few of the many people who come from more than 16 countries that comprise the continent of Asia, and the Pacific Islands to make America their home.
