Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. said:

People fail to get along because they fear each other; they fear each other because they don’t know each other; they don’t know each other because they have not communicated with each other.”

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”

On the eve of Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a fitting day to start a conversation.

This community forum will feature discussion of Wimberley and San Marcos settlement of its racial groups, from historical and experiential perspectives. Curated by Moderator Sandra Organ Solis, this zoom session will feature specific voices, who will share historical context, personal stories, and experiences, and offer ways forward, inviting others to give voice as well. These panels will often feature people of color, whose voices haven’t always been allowed at the table.

WHO IS AT THE TABLE?

Panelists will include:

Linda Allen, Journalist, Author, Owner, Linda’s Fine Foods

Dr. Elvin Holt, Calaboose Museum

Jonafa Banbury, The Dunbar Heritage Center

HOW THE TABLE WILL BE SET

While the panelists have their say, participant/listeners will be muted, but encouraged to share their comments, questions, and anecdotes in the chat space, where the Moderator will select and call upon those willing to share those voices relevant and compelling to the forum.
