AUG 28 GATHERING CANCELLED…

Dear Voices at the Table community:

Carlos and I have been giving this alot of thought, and have decided, that with the increasing rates of CoVid positivity in our county, we must defer from gathering our Voices at the Table community in person at this time. We will try again later this fall, but do not want to endanger anyone’s health as this latest variant surges across the region.

Please instead use your voices and votes to encourage compassionate leadership that safeguards the lives of our children and speaks up for the vulnerable communities of color, who are disproportionally affected by this scourge. Join us in respecting the common good of all, by getting vaccinated and staying masked, but not silent. Kindly reaching out to your neighbors to find common ground, and be at the ready to help those who will suffer.

We are reminded of the Prayer of St. Francis, a good send off for now…
(and of course, I have a dance to these words that I may need to resurrect)
with some wording changes of our making:

Lord, make US an instruments of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine One, grant that WE may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
